Head lice are parasitic insects found on the head. They are tiny, wingless, and are reddish-brown in color. Their bodies are flat, elongated, and a bit oval in appearance.

Are there different types of head lice?
There are several types of lice that feed on people. One particular species that specifically feeds on the head is known as the head louse.

How to minimize lice?

What is the life span of head lice?
Head lice normally survive for 30 days on a human host. They, however, rarely live more than 48 hours when off the head.

How many eggs can a female head louse lay?
The female head louse produces around 3-8 eggs per day. This is a total production of about 88 eggs during her life span.

How can a person get head lice?
The most common way to contract lice is by head-to-head contact with an infested person. This contact can occur at home, school, playgrounds, or at other social gatherings. Sharing clothes or other items that have been infected may also spread Head lice. These items can include:

· Baseball caps, hats, coats, scarves, sports uniforms, bandanas
· Combs, brushes, hair ribbons, barrettes, towels, stuffed animals.
